Webklipper Technologies Private Limited, the baby we nurtured an year ago has turned 1 today. Happy b’day baby. We made an announcement on our company blog and added a b’day cap to our WebEngage logo. So much for a day. Well, yes! But lemme tell you – this day is not just another day in my life. Exactly an year ago, I had the dream of building a company – an organization that most would admire and a few would envy. Nupur (my wife) turned out to be axis of support that she has always been. I found an amazing partner in Ankit (co-founder & CTO). Not too later, we earned the faith of Manish (friend and our Lead Engineer). And, thus began the journey. Truth be told, I have had the best moments of my life in this one year. Here are some –
- Me and Nupur were blessed w/ a baby girl – Anika. She is the best gift I have ever received in my life. When not working, I am playing w/ her.
- We gained amazing traction w/ our annotation product Webklipper. So much so, that schools in the US started focusing their interactive classroom sessions around Webklipper. Here’s a sample session circulated between students by Plymouth School District.
- We conceived the WebEngage idea in March, 2011. Launched a first version in May and enhanced the tool for a good 5 months before going live in October, 2011 on webengage.com. We have acquired over 400 customers worldwide in such a short span of time. We now count some of the big names in Indian e-commerce space as our customers. And we are speedily making our presence felt in geographies outside India.
- We raised our seed round of capital in May, 2011 from a group of active angel investors. A PR release is in the works and we’ll be announcing our fund-raising next week.
More than anything else, this journey has been about not-giving-up – a skill that I have acquired over a period of time. As a part of building this company I am making sure that this becomes our motto and sinks into all of us. We were limited by resources of all sorts, but we never gave up. We desperately want to hire, but we did not give up to the urge of hiring for mediocre talent. We did not give up to any advice that was not a match w/ our DNA.
Wish me luck. I need loads of it. And more importantly, please spread the word for WebEngage (http://webengage.com). Share it w/ your friends and in your professional network. If you have a website or a blog, do give the tool a try once. We have a FREE forever plan for startups and early stage companies.
Thanks for reading. Coming soon with another boring post.
